ep. 68: purpose

Here it is, part two: Purpose.

Did you just groan?!

I think I heard half of you grown.

The other half is curious--like, "tell me how I find it?"

PURPOSE = the reason why you exist.

We just came off of the email topic last week

of creating an exit plan for chronic stress.

Which means, if that resonated,

you are still 'inside' the chronic stress, and

certainly have not exited,

or perhaps have no plan to exit.

Which is a legit choice, as long as you see it that way.

If you like your reasons.

I need to clean one thing up, add a li'l clarity -

exiting the chronic stuff may not mean changing WHAT IS.

Like, at all. Accepting this is HUGE.

Remember, last week I said

the definition of chronic is IT WON'T CHANGE.

CHRONIC: the consistent feeling of pressure and overwhelm

for a long period of time.

It has lasted long enough

that you can truthfully say,

this is not ever gonna change.

It is what is.

It may mean that you make a plan

to not be in the vicinity of what is.

If it's a job. Exit plan. (Or not.)

If it's any type of relationship. Exit plan. (Or not.)

If it's a religion or other institution of some kind. Exit plan. (Or not.)

We cannot change what is: others, systems, history.

We start from WHAT IS. Firmly planted in what is.

We can impart our genius.

Speak our own wisdom or truth.

And 'all the people' get to do whatever they will

with your words.

I guess I'm picturing a steadiness, a standing firm, if you will.

Sitting at the table.

Saving space in the room for YOU to breathe easily.

(Of course, this is for me.)

This whole thing, writing about topics, clearing up issues,

saying what I think and prefer,

finally -

has all been for me.

That should be obvious.

BUT in doing so, I have gotten the feedback

that others

feel

seen

in my words.

That there is a benefit to others

...like they feel understood.

Sometimes, and I have found this to be true in my life, in my case study,

sometimes just our mere presence in the room,

unapologetically, un-shrinking,

steady and present - not loud,

is ENOUGH to very powerfully influence what is.

Stay with me,

but what if you, being authentically you,

in the spaces that you find yourself -

what if THAT is so powerful?

So...meaningful in the trajectory of what is -

could that be your purpose,

just that alone, fully showing up in all your spaces? As you?

TODAY'S DEEP BREATH: here's a practical juju nugget, a collective Next Best Decision.

Save space in the room for you.

Room to breathe. Room to pause.

Space to decide. Prefer. Ask. Speak up. Even argue.

Maintain

a space to feel all the emotions

of being human, and carve out space to own all of YOU.

Support yourself first, and maybe that is all that is needed.

The rest of your life falls into place when you are

honest, brave and safe with yourself.

It may completely crumble first.

It may crumble more than once.

And maybe that's what we are afraid of?

Back to the chronic stress: step one.

Some of you are not yet SAFE on the outside. With the peoples.

In order to get away from the harm,

it's required that you believe enough,

support enough,

hear your own voice enough

to regrow and get safe.

This is why I have journal prompts, and journal classes,

to help you sit with yourself and hear your own truth.

There will, no doubt, be fear

that 'someone else' will read what you wrote.

Part of living safe

is reckoning your own fears.

Be brave. Then be honest.

Tell the truth.

How does it feel?

What do you think?

(And, gulp...)

What do you want?

Or, easier: what do you NOT want, anymore?

Decide you honestly have your own back in every moment.

Find safety if you don't currently have it.

purpose: follow your own wisdom
